Busy Summer

My summer just got busier! Pam, my boss at Rainbow Connection Daycare, is running another daycare in the Northtown area. Starting June 9th, I will be reading Monday and Tuesdays mornings to the children there. So now my work schedule will be four mornings a week!!! No sleeping in this summer.

Doing business as: ANDREA’S STORIES

Andrea’s Stories is now licensed to do business in the City of Spokane!!!!!  This is pretty exciting.  We are also continuing to work on my Business Plan (which is a lot of work). My goal for getting my book published is around the first of June so that we will have it for the open house at Free Rein.

Spring Session Has Started

Friday,  February 28th, we started our ‘spring session’ of therapeutic riding. Chester and I had a great ride and joining us was my friend, Grace; and her horse, Whistle. We even had a chance to ride outside on the snowy trail. The riders that were scheduled for Saturday, didn’t  have the same luck as we did; because the temperature took a turn for the worse causing their classes to be cancelled. Chester thinks spring is coming  because he is SHEDDING.  My side walker, Susan, carries a hanky to wipe my nose when it runs in this cold weather; and when she wiped my nose she got Chester hair on my face. Then trying to remove that with her hairy gloves was a challenge. It was pretty funny!

Off for Copyrighting

Yesterday, I sent my book to the government to get a copyright; via  the internet. We were a little computer challenged but managed to get it there with the help of Russ from Graydog Publishing. We are hoping that this process will not take 3 to 5 months, which they are showing that it could.

I have also been working with Jeanne at Enso on a business plan; so things are moving along, sometimes slower than I would like.

Last Ride of 2013

Yesterday was our last time in the saddle for 2013. We were scheduled to ride the week before but because the weather was not cooperating (a high for several days of 15 degrees) classes were cancelled.  Yesterday was a balmy 30 degrees, no sun, a little breeze. I had a great ride. Mom and I made caramel corn that we passed out to my ‘team’ and left a big bag of carrots for Chester to share. We are scheduled to be back in the saddle again the end of February.

2nd Draft

Last Thursday dad, mom and I went by Russ Davis’ office and picked up another draft of my book. It looks really great. We are all doing the second editing. Things are moving along!

Spokane Valley Heroes

Last Friday my Spokane Valley Heroes group had our first get together since the summer break. We are a group of young adults with developmental delays and we meet together just to have fun. Friday night was game night. Everyone brought pizza and salads for dinner and then played a variety of games. We had a small group but had lots of fun. I played Farkel, Pictionary, and a game that we brought called Loopin Louie. Our next get together is going to be a Halloween dance.

I GOT A PAID JOB!!!!!!

FINALLY! Exciting news! Jeanne from Enso, my employment agency, found me a paid job reading to kids at the Rainbow Connection Daycare downtown. I will be there two mornings a week for about an hour and a half. I’m really excited and will be starting the first week of November. I will let everyone know how my first day goes.

FIRST DAY AT WORK

Wednesday was my first day at my new job at Rainbow Connection Daycare which is located in downtown Spokane!!! Pam, my new boss, got me set up with their computer timesheets and gave me a code for the front door. I am an official employee! It was so cool. I read to four different groups of kids; the five year olds, two-three year olds, four year olds and the one year olds. I will be working Wednesday and Thursdays for about an hour and a half each day. It is AWESOME to finally be employed.
